There’s something truly magical about summer evenings in Oklahoma—especially when spent at a place as stunning as Gloss Mountain State Park. The warm, golden light, the towering red bluffs, and the endless sky made the perfect backdrop for River and Abby’s engagement session. Their love for each other, their adventurous spirits, and the way they simply enjoyed every moment together made this session unforgettable.
We started their session at the base of the red bluffs, just the two of them. River and Abby have an easygoing kind of love—the kind that doesn’t need to be posed or forced. They naturally fit together, sharing soft glances, laughter, and little inside jokes between shots. The earthy reds and deep greens of the landscape contrasted beautifully with Abby’s flowing dress, and River’s steady presence beside her made for some truly timeless images.

But of course, their session wouldn’t have been complete without their three four-legged best friends! After capturing a few quiet moments between the two of them, their dogs came bounding into the frame, tails wagging and full of energy. The joy on River and Abby’s faces said it all—these pups are a huge part of their lives, and including them in their engagement session was a must. We captured the whole crew together, getting both posed portraits and some candid, fun-loving shots of the chaos that only happens when dogs are involved.

After some time at the base, it was time for an outfit change before the next adventure—climbing to the top of Gloss Mountain. Dressed in whites + summertime clothes, River and Abby packed up a picnic and we started the hike. The trail up the mountain isn’t too long, but in the summer heat, it definitely called for a few breaks along the way. We made the most of those pauses, snapping some breathtaking shots of them framed by the rugged terrain. The way they looked at each other—full of love and shared excitement—made every single image feel so authentic to who they are as a couple.

The views at the Gloss Mountains are truly hard to beat. It’s hard to believe sometimes that these are practically in my backyard + right here in Northwest Oklahoma. Just two hours from OKC, this spot is well worth the trip for stunning photos that feel like you are in the desert, but you don’t even have to leave the state! I have had couples travel here to have me capture their love story from so many different states too!

Once we reached the summit, it was time for a well-earned picnic. River and Abby laid out a cozy little setup, complete with cookies, fresh strawberries, and of course, a Polaroid camera to capture the moment. There’s something so sweet about having instant keepsakes from a session like this—something tangible to hold onto and remember the day by. They laughed as they snapped pictures of each other, playfully critiquing their “photography skills” and soaking in the beauty around them. The sky stretched endlessly above, the sun beginning its slow descent, casting everything in warm, golden hues.

Your engagement session can be so much more than just a photoshoot—it’s a chance to celebrate your love story in a way that feels natural and true to who you are as a couple. One of the best ways to create those genuine, heartfelt moments is by turning your session into a date night!
Think about the things you love doing together—whether it’s something as simple as grabbing ice cream at your favorite spot, having a cozy evening by the fire, or taking a scenic drive down country roads. River and Abby, for example, love capturing memories with their Polaroid camera, so incorporating that into their session made it even more meaningful.
Maybe your fiancé plays guitar, and you cherish the quiet moments of reading your favorite book or your Bible while he strums. Or perhaps you both love horseback riding, fishing at sunset, or slow dancing under the stars. Whatever makes your relationship special can be woven into your engagement session, transforming it into an experience you’ll always remember.
The possibilities are endless—so let’s create a session that feels like you.

As the evening wore on, we captured their final images overlooking the vast landscape, the rugged Oklahoma terrain stretching endlessly beneath the golden hues of the fading sun. With the wind gently tousling their hair and the last rays of light casting a warm glow around them, they danced, hugged, and twirled—completely lost in the moment. Laughter echoed in the open air as they held each other close, savoring the quiet magic of just being together.
It was the perfect way to end their engagement session—just the two of them, standing side by side, taking it all in. The stillness of the land, the soft whispers of the breeze, the way the sky melted from fiery orange to deep twilight blue—it all felt like a scene straight from their love story.
As dusk settled in, they began the slow and steady climb back down, their steps unhurried, their hands intertwined. With each step, they reflected on the adventure they had just shared, reliving the laughter, the stolen kisses, and the memories made in those fleeting golden hours. It wasn’t just a photoshoot—it was an experience, a reminder of the journey they were on together, and the countless moments still to come.

This session was more than just an engagement shoot—it was an experience. It was about documenting River and Abby as they are: adventurous, deeply in love, and always up for making memories together. Whether it was the candid moments with their dogs, the laughter mid-hike, or the sweet simplicity of their picnic at the top, every part of this session felt true to them.
Engagement sessions like this one remind me why I love what I do. It’s not just about the photos—it’s about the experience, the memories, and the stories that couples get to tell for years to come. River and Abby’s love story is just beginning, and I have no doubt that their journey will be filled with just as much joy, adventure, and laughter as this incredible summer evening at Gloss Mountain State Park.
