Texas Elopement and How to Plan

The Details

Emma’s details from her wedding day were not only stunning but also so special because she MADE her own jewelry! You can check out her work at Blue Roan Silver. Her boots are Ariat Casanova, her stunning dress is from Beyond Blessed Bridal in Abilene.

Getting Ready

Since Emma and Lane chose to elope just the two of them, I had the honor of helping Emma into her wedding dress. They got ready at one of the many cute cabins near Palo Duro Canyon, you can check out their VRBO here. Not only did I get to help her button her dress, I also was able to pray over Emma before her and Lane shared their first look. A moment that truly means so much to me.

First Look and Vows

After their first look which took place just outside of their cabin, they shared their personal vows they wrote to each other. I am not even going to lie, I was tearing maybe even more than the two of them.

Texas Elopement Ceremony

When you elope in Texas, you aren’t required to have any witnesses present. So with Lane’s high school baseball coach officiating their ceremony. They got married with only the red dirt bluffs and of course me, at their witnesses. It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have witnessed, not only because of the views but the words spoken and prayed over them were so special.

Bride and Groom Portraits

For their portraits after their ceremony, we explored all around the park. Palo Duro Canyon State Park is full of panoramic views. They don’t call it the mini Grand Canyon for no reason, and it is located right here in Texas. My personal style when it comes to bride and groom portraits is a mix of editorial style posed portraits and in-the-moment more documentary style photos. The ones you can really feel when you look back on them.

First Dance Overlooking the Canyon

As we were planning their elopement day, we decided on Lane and Emma sharing their first dance together overlooking the canyon at dusk. It was so intimate, just the two of them on top of the world it felt like as they slow danced with the full moon showing off behind them.

Cake Cutting to Finish off the Perfect Texas Elopement

After finishing up at the canyon, we headed back to their cabin so the two of them could cut their cake. It was the perfect end to the truly perfect elopement in Texas.
