Cowboy Wedding | Joe + Cheyenne

cowboy wedding bride and groom portrait against the red dirt bluffs

Cowboy Wedding on the Ranch

Joe + Cheyenne had the ultimate cowboy wedding set against the red dirt bluffs of western Oklahoma. A private first look + vows together, auctioning off the first table to eat, chuck wagon for supper, + dancing underneath the open skies. That is what their day was all about.

Getting Ready

The gals got ready at the cutest little salon in Ashland, KS before we headed down to cross into Oklahoma for their wedding.

First Look and Private Vows

When I am documenting first looks and private vows this is one of the times in your day where I truly take a fly on the wall approach. Or in this case, just a fly in the open air. I step back and let the two of you enjoy this moment without shoving a camera in your face and making you feel like you are on a reality T.V. show.

Benefit of Doing a First Look

I truly will not try to sway you one way or another on doing a first look with your groom or not. I am a wedding photographer who didn’t do a first look at my own wedding. One of the biggest benefits to doing a first look is that you can take your time with as many photos as you want before your ceremony. If you want you can take full wedding party portraits, family, even your couples portraits before your ceremony if you choose to do a first look.

Their Cowboy Wedding Ceremony

Whether it is your ceremony or any other part of your day, my approach is to document your day and get you the photos you’ve dreamt of for years, but also be aware of your family, friends, and guests that are there to support you. I’m not afraid to gently move uncle Jerry’s whole arm from hanging out in the aisle trying to get a photo with his iphone 4 but I also won’t step right in front of your mom watching you walk down to aisle to your groom.

Documentary Style Photos

Remember when I said I like to be a fly on the wall for certain aspects of your day? This is another great example of the bride and groom celebrating with their wedding party directly after their ceremony. I never want to interrupt a real moment to pose a fake one.

Cowboy Wedding Auction and Chuck Wagon Supper

Looking for something unique to get your guests involved and give them a fun experience from your wedding day? Joe and Cheyenne decided that instead of dismissing tables in a traditional sense for supper, they auctioned off who got to eat first. Oh and they were serving a homemade from scratch full blown chuck wagon supper, all the way from Colorado. If you want to have them come to your ranch for your cowboy wedding, 2M Wagona, LLC is who you will want to chat with.

Bride and Groom Portraits

How I help get those in the moment photos of just the two of you during your portrait time. I give you a mixture of some poses, some things to do or prompts, and then some time of just letting the two of you enjoy a few moments alone and soak in the day together.

Does an Overcast Day Affect Your Wedding Photos

No it really doesn’t. Are you going to get a golden sunset? Maybe not. Will your photos still be stunning? Absolutely.
